Street car racing is illegal for a reason but that has not stopped the decades of car enthusiasts who have put their four wheeled machines against the closest competitor. The goal of street car racing is to be the fastest but with speed on unregulated streets can come disaster. I remember a time when I was 17 and at a popular Seattle area street car racing spot when my friend was almost the reason for what would have been a near fatal accident.

We were watching in his Civic hatchback near the end of the quarter mile stretch. It was only a one-way two lane road with a huge wall on the adjacent side to the parking lot that we were watching in making it a pretty safe race spot. We decided to leave and pulled onto the street only to realize a race had already begun and they were barreling down on us at near 100 MPH. Luckily the car in the left lane slammed on their brakes and went around us but it could have been catastrophic like the street car racing video above.
