| NASCAR it’s reported this morning that the #27 Toyota Bill Davis Racing team suspends operations. The team suspended operations due to lack of funding. This is the team that was earlier reported would run Villeneuve with him bring sponsorship for 08 but this never materialized. After missing the Daytona 500, BDR announced that Skinner and Benson would run the next few races, starting with Skinner at the NASCAR races in Calif and Vegas and Benson at Atlanta...then?. Villeneuve tested and ran a few truck series race in 2007 and was scheduled to drive the #27 for at least the first five races in 2008 and see where they stack up in owners points. Villeneuve split with longterm manager Craig Pollock in Jan 2008. Pollock had been rumored as buying into the team with Villeneuve somehow. This team was the #36 360 OTC team with driver Jeremy Mayfield in 2007. Mayfield left and headed to the #70 Hass CNC Racing ride and the team will run the #27 in 2008 with Richard 'Slugger' Labbe as the crew chief. The #27 may run NASCAR Talladega but sponsorship money is needed to keep this team afloat. |
