Former Amateur Racers Priced out of Auto Racing Supplies Because of Fuel Costs |

The NASCAR racing schedule is now online for the 2008 season, so I'm going to print it out and hang in on the refrigerator, so I know when NOT to call my brother, who is a huge NASCAR fan. Auto racing is a very interesting sport, and it is one of the most expensive sports that an individual can participate in. Most of us can only do so as spectators, but I know people who have had enough money in their lives to participate in the sport themselves. Some got started at the street car racing level, and went onto funny car racing. The auto racing supplies are expensive, however, and between fuel and tires, I don't think any of them could afford to do it now with gas prices more than triple what they were when they were racing participants. So they, like my brother, read the NASCAR racing schedules, pop the corn, chill the beer, and look forward to a noisy afternoon in the family room, watching cars go by on the track with amazing speed and agility. |
