Auto racing F1 BMW-Sauber will be on target to give the heavy hitters in Formula One a run for their money in the 2008 Constructor's Championship.

The young teams drivers scored their best combined race finish to date of 11 points, with drivers Robert Kubica scoring its sixth podium finish and Nick Heidfeld capturing three points in sixth place. Kubica's second-place finish comes on the heels of Heidfeld's second-place finish in last Sunday's season opening F1 Grand Prix of Australia.

The result keeps the team second in the constructor's points, five behind F1 McLaren-Mercedes. Defending champion Ferrari is eight points behind BMW, in third, after Kimi Raikkonen's win Sunday.

Kubica's effort was his second career podium finish and best result in his 24th start. He posted his first podium finish at the 2006 Italian Grand Prix.

As well as posting its first back-to-back second-place finishes, the team also managed to lay down the race's fastest lap with Heidfeld running a lap around the 3.444-mile circuit in a time of 1:35.366.

The team has the chance now to take its race data back to its bases in Switzerland and Germany for analysis before returning to race action in two weeks at the Grand Prix of Bahrain.
