Dale Jr. Finally Takes One for The Team!
Dale Earnhardt Jr. has snapped a 76 race losing streak. Jr. moved to Hendrick racing earlier this season, leaving the team that his father built, DEI, due to complications with his greedy step-mother, it seemed. In a move seemed all season to be a decent move, it still didn't prove to be as successful as a win would show.
Dale Jr. got that opportunity finally when he won the Lifelock 400 at Michigan International Speedway this past weekend. He can thank the good Lord above for putting the whole race under yellow flag conditions, due accidents. The whole race was filled with amazing car activity, whether it be accidents or cars just not running right. All in all not many cars finished on the lead lap.
The race also saw a lot of different drivers in the top 10, with Jimmie Johnson, Carl Edwards, Matt Kenseth, Sam Hornish, Kasey Kahne and then with Earnhardt leading and finishing the race. All in all, due to weird car situations, like breaking axle's, driveshafts and the likes, only 23 cars finished on the lead lap.
None of this stopped Dale Earnhardt Jr. from pushing the limits, as his car, with almost no fuel and bad tires, beat Kasey Kahne on a two lap dog fight. The race ended under yellow flag conditions, aiding in Earnhardt's win.
Congratulations to Dale Earnhardt Jr. for taking his first win of the season and in 76 races. This just goes to show that he made the right choice leaving DEI for Hendrick. Or did he? Only time will really tell if he did or not.
