The latest street car racing news to hit the Indy circuit has been the talks surrounding a merger between Champ Car and Indy Racing. These sides have begun talks about a unification of their street car racing series because the rating for the individual racing series are not that good. The heads of both sides hope that coming together will bolster the coverage of open wheel racing. Open wheel racing means that the wheels of the car are outside of the actual vehicle chassis. These cars are more often than not one-seaters positioned in the middle of the vehicle. I have an extreme respect for the drivers of these vehicles because of the video game like handling that is capable within these cars.
The street car racing merger is nowhere near complete though. Each side has their own wants and needs. As of yet they have not come to a common understanding so nothing is set in stone other then the talks at hand. IRL seems to be the side taking the leadership helm over the Cart Series after offering any Champ team money to compete in their series.
