The season long battle in GT2 comes down to the last race between Risi Ferrari and Flying Lizard Porsche.
With three class wins, including Petit Le Mans, the Flying Lizard team will vie for its fourth and final victory at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Leading the charge against the California-based, independent team is Risi Competizione. The Flying Lizard's No. 45 Porsche is the only competitor in class to have broken the winning streak of Ferrari between Risi Competizione and Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Racing earlier this season.
"The results at Petit were wonderful, and we are proud to have won such an important and historic race," said Eric Ingraham, team principal, team manager and strategist for the No. 44. "However, the championships are still our focus, and while we made good inroads on the deficit in points at Petit, there is still a ways to go between us and the top of the points standings."
"We are in the enviable position of having nothing to lose at Laguna Seca," said Johannes van Overbeek, team principal and driver. "Winning the championship is a long shot but with the motivation that comes from racing in front of family, friends and sponsors.
The four-hour race is beneficial as more points are at stake increasing the Flying Lizard team's chances of success. Twenty-three points go to the winners, with the Lizards needing every one to have a chance in the championship.
